When it comes to music production, Cake Or Death does everything. When are artist comes in, all he/she/they do is play instruments, we take care of all else. We produce, engineer, mix, and master. Below are examples of our work:
The Hollywood Kills – “An Idiot’s Guide To Desertion”
With a band as loud and catchy as they are, the focus of this production was pop-rock being mixed like metal. Loud guitars and a loud snare brought to life the direction this band eagerly sought after.
Like Empires – “Veins, Wires, And All Things That Follow”
Metal is a band with a gazillion sub-genres, all sounding the same because of new technology like Superior Drummer 2.0. While we could have easily gone in that direction, this band needed to stand out with an authentic, in-your-face feel. We used nothing but live drums on these recordings, and they turned out great.
MARJ – Untitled2
MARJ is a band that has a large focus on drums, but not clean drums. Everything about this band’s music is dirty and garage-feeling. There needed absolutely zero cleanliness on these recordings. No click, no perfect playing, no perfect tuning. The focus was to capture how they sound live, not how they would sound in a studio.
Dr. Asimov – Fish&Onions
Dr. Asimov needed production similar to MARJ. With no click track or clean takes, they needed something dirty yet space-age. All effects were done by hand with pedals, not within digital programs.
Stephanie Hamood – Nobody Knows
Sometimes recordings are done in a pinch with a very limited time frame, but something beautiful can still come out of it. Stephanie came through town and spent only two hours in the studio and knocked out this song. Originally just her and guitar, piano was added in last in order to provide bass lines as well as a warmer environment for the melody.
