So far in 2009, not many albums have come out that were worth buying or really worth paying attention to.  Silversun Pickups have been a band that I heard when one of my co-workers at my old job stumbled upon it and played it on repeat at work.  Their album “Carnavas” was astounding.  Quite possibly my favorite album from 2007, and it remains on heavy play in my iPod.  I was really hoping that the new album would not be a disappointment and, fortunately, I was very pleased.

This album is amazing.  I haven’t found a single song from this band that I don’t like.  This is the album you listen to when you are in deep thought at home.  Here’s what you need to do: go somewhere that’s warm and not windy at 2 in the morning.  Drive around with your windows down feeling the breeze of the air on your face while pumping this album.  If you follow these steps correctly, you will more than likely have a life-altering epiphany.  This music is just that good.  For fans of Radiohead, old Smashing Pumpkins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and even the latest Lydia album will cum in their pants to this album.

On this album, as opposed to their previous work “Carnavas,” contains faster rhythms and catchier lyrics, while still holding some slower, more melodic songs that you loved so much on “Carnavas.”  Another thing on this album is that the violins come in more clearly.  On the previous album, you knew it was there, but it didn’t stand out as much as it does on “Swoon,” and it sounds fantastic.  It’s hard to beat “Carnavas,” but I’m thinking that after a couple more weeks, this might just top it.  Go get this album.  I don’t care if you buy it or steal it via torrent or friends, everyone needs to listen to this. Five out of five.
